Privacy Policy
Dropanyfile ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. What we collect
- Secure Send / Secure Receive (Private): Nothing of your file contents. Files transfer directly between sender and receiver, end-to-end encrypted. Our server only relays a brief signalling message (offer/answer/ICE candidates) to introduce the two devices. We also store a randomly generated claim token for the receiver's session that binds the code to one device.
- Public Zone: File contents and text messages you upload are stored on our server temporarily (up to 15 minutes, then auto-deleted).
- IP address & user agent: Temporarily logged for rate-limiting and abuse prevention. Not associated with personal identity.
- No accounts, no tracking cookies, no third-party analytics at this time.
2. How we use it
- To deliver files between the sender and the recipient.
- To prevent abuse (rate-limiting, fraud, spam).
- To improve service reliability.
3. Third parties
We use a third-party content delivery network as a proxy to make Dropanyfile reachable over the internet. The provider may process IP addresses and request metadata in line with their own privacy policy. We do not share personal data with marketing partners.
4. Data retention
- Private files: never touch our server.
- Public Zone files & text: deleted automatically 15 minutes after upload.
- Secure Send / Secure Receive sessions: claim tokens and session data are kept in memory only while the sender's tab is open, deleted instantly when the sender disconnects or after a 1-hour session timeout, whichever is first.
- Server logs: rotated regularly; never retained longer than 30 days.
5. Your rights
Because we collect minimal data and no accounts, there is little to delete or export. If you have questions about your data, contact us using the form below.
6. Children
Dropanyfile is not intended for users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
Terms of Use
By using Dropanyfile you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service
Dropanyfile is a free file-sharing service offering:
- Public Zone — open shared space where anyone visiting can see and download files/text. Auto-deletes after 15 minutes.
- Secure Send — generates a one-time 4-character code. Files transfer end-to-end encrypted, directly between devices.
- Secure Receive — enter a Secure Send code to join. Each code is single-device bound — once activated on one device, the same code cannot be reused on another browser, tab, or device.
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
2. Free plan limits
- Maximum 3 files at one time.
- Maximum 50 MB total storage per session.
- Maximum 2,000 characters total text per session (cumulative across all messages, not per message).
- Files automatically deleted after 15 minutes.
Paid (Pro) plans, when available, will increase or remove these limits.
3. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to use Dropanyfile to share, store, or transmit:
- Illegal content of any kind, including content that violates applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — strictly prohibited and reported to law enforcement.

- Malware, viruses, ransomware, or harmful code.
- Personal data of others without their consent.
- Content that incites violence, harassment, or hate.
- Spam, phishing, or fraudulent material.
Full details: see Acceptable Use Policy.
4. Account & admin access
The service currently does not require an account. Admin access (where applicable) is restricted to authorised operators by a private password.
5. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dropanyfile and its operators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data, lost profits, or business interruption.
6. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dropanyfile and its operators against claims, damages, and expenses arising from your violation of these terms or your misuse of the service.
7. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for any user who violates these terms, with or without notice.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [your jurisdiction]. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

About Dropanyfile & FAQ
What is Dropanyfile?
Dropanyfile is a free, no-signup file sharing service with three modes accessible from the top navigation:
- 📢 Public Zone — Open shared space for quick group sharing. Files visible to anyone in the zone, auto-deleted after 15 minutes.
- 🔒 Secure Send — Generate a 4-character code and share it with one receiver. Files transfer end-to-end encrypted, directly between devices. Our server never sees them.
- 🔑 Secure Receive — Enter the sender's 4-character code to connect. Each code is single-device bound — once activated, no other browser, tab, or device can use the same code.
How is privacy protected?
Secure Send / Secure Receive use end-to-end encryption directly between sender and receiver. The connection is established device-to-device; we only see brief signalling metadata used to introduce the two devices — never the file contents. Codes are also locked to the first device that activates them, so even if someone intercepts the code, they cannot use it elsewhere. Public Zone files are stored temporarily on our server and auto-deleted in 15 minutes.
Is it free? What are the limits?
Yes, free for everyone. Free-tier limits:
- 3 files at once · 50 MB total · 2,000 characters total text (cumulative per session) · 15-minute retention.
A Pro plan with unlimited limits, custom expiry, password-protected sharing, and notifications is coming soon.
Do I need an account?
No. The service works without signing up.
What about big files?
For files larger than 50 MB, use Secure Send — there's no size limit there because files transfer directly between browsers. The Pro plan, when available, will lift the Public Zone limits too.
Can I cancel an in-progress transfer?
Yes. Both sender and receiver can cancel any active transfer. Cancelled files show a "crashed" state and can then be removed from the list.
What happens if my browser closes during transfer?
In Secure Send / Secure Receive, if the receiver disconnects mid-transfer, the file is paused; when the receiver reopens (in the same browser tab) with the same code, the transfer restarts. If they close the tab, the code's device-binding prevents reuse on a new tab — they would need a fresh code. The Public Zone uses normal HTTP uploads with retry, so brief network issues recover automatically.
Why can't I open the same code in two tabs?
This is intentional for security. Each Secure Send code is bound to the first device/tab that activates it. If a code leaked or was shared with an unintended party, they could not use it elsewhere — only the original receiver's tab keeps access. Open the sender's page to generate a fresh code if you need to re-share.
How do I report abuse?
Use the Contact form to report misuse. We act quickly on illegal content reports.
